Meet Joy, the ceramic artist and heart of our business. Originating from York, SC, she brings life into every piece she creates. Joy’s passion for functional ceramics allows her to connect people through the excitement of clay, crafting unique items that enhance everyday life. Her artistic vision and dedication to her work shines through in everything she does.

She has loads of experience in teaching and loves sharing the process of pottery with others. She also will be found leading the fun classes hosted by Sea Clay. Inspired by the connection clay has the earth and the ocean - she spends most of her days in the studio creating unique pieces to share with anyone who shares the love of handmade.

SUPPORT

Kyle Thompson is the unwavering support system behind the scenes of the business, serving as Joy’s best friend and partner. His warm personality and steadfast commitment make him an invaluable asset to the team. An avid astrophotographer, Kyle spends his nights capturing the beauty of the cosmos, melding his love for the universe with his creative passion. When he’s not behind the camera, you can find him by the shore enjoying the tranquility of fishing, where he finds peace and inspiration. Kyle is always eager to lend a helping hand, whether it’s setting up for markets or providing extra support wherever needed. His dedication to his friends and community shines through in everything he does, making him not just a partner in business but also a cherished companion in life for Joy.

STUDIO ASSISTANT

Vanessa is our lovely assistant and ensuring that creativity flows seamlessly. She helps keep the studio tidy and well-kept, allowing Joy to focus on her artistic endeavors. Vanessa also plays a crucial role in upholding a cheerful spirit and support whenever needed. Originally from Texas, Vanessa brings a touch of southern warmth and friendliness to the team. She has a deep love for plants and a wealth of knowledge about them, which leads to her often sharing her expertise to create a vibrant atmosphere in the studio. Full of energy and positivity, Vanessa is not just an assistant but a true friend and a vital support to Joy, making every project feel more special.

LITTLE HELPERS

Azula and Juno are best friends that bring lots of silliness and comfort. They are often found hanging out in the studio anytime they are not napping.

Azula loves to help out by watching and sitting by the side of who ever is in there. She loves her toy fish and catching any of the bugs that may venture in.

Juno loves laying in the chairs if she is not chasing her toys or playing with her sister.

Occasionally they like to add their own paws into the pieces for a little extra creativity.
