Classes

Want to have a hand in the creation? With our classes, you are able to learn a little about the process as well as add your creative design. Our glaze classes are great for anyone, regardless of their artistic skill. Joy provides handmade and premade pieces for you to add your design using high-quality professional glazes. All pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe (unless otherwise stated). See some examples to get an idea of what others have created below!

New to the class offerings are occasional hand-building classes. Mend the clay into the vessel you want before they are glazed by the professional ceramic artist.

Coming soon- private wheel throwing sessions.

 FAQs

  • Due to ceramics being fragile and the uniqueness of each piece, all sales are final and there are no returns. If your package had damage during shipping, please contact us to see about a replacement.

  • Ceramics are very durable but to make them last as long as possible there are some things you can keep in mind. Hand washing is always a better solution, but it is totally fine to put it in the dishwasher. They are dishwasher and microwave safe! Some glazes, such as matte glazes, can get hotter at the surface than others, so just be careful! :) Over time harsh dishwashing chemicals can eat at the glaze and alter the color, so having it on the top rack can help keep it more safe. Raw stoneware (unglazed areas) can be stained by food or drinks such as wine, coffee, or tomato sauce, so always wash it off as soon as possible to keep the clay body clean. As with most things, thermal shock can cause cracking or breakage, so avoid drastic temperature changes.

  • We understand that things can arise and plans change. If you can not make it to a class- you must reach out at least 24 hrs before the start time of the class you signed up for. Due to the preparation of materials and space- any no shows or cancelations within the 24 hrs will NOT BE REFUNDED.

  • Ceramic glaze is basically the glassy coating that is on ceramics. It is mainly used to seal the piece as well as add a decor aspect to it. Before its fired, its a chalky like paint made up of different minerals and materials that you apply to the piece.

  • I often do classes at different locations at least once a month. Check my events tab to see where I will be next! :) The classes are about 2 hours long. It shouldn’t take you the entire two hours to complete a piece, but I like to give plenty of time for creativity and socializing.

  • Since glazes can be tricky to work with and shouldn’t be ingested (even though I use non toxic glazes) we encourage those who are participating to be at least old enough to know how to follow instructions clearly, be respectful, and of course not put things in their mouth. If you would like to bring your child- you are more than welcome as long as you or someone of age can supervise them during the event. Most events are at held where alcohol is served- so just use your own discretion. Since my classes are often advertised at bars or as BYOB, please be advised that if your child is under the age of 21, they might be around some drinking. (And of course I will not allow underaged drinking lol) If your child gets to be out of hand- I will ask you to finish the piece for them and take them to a place that will not be disturbing other guest.

  • You should get it back within 1-2 weeks, usually where the class was originally or at a nearby coffee shop. Most of the time we will drop it off at the original location for you to pickup at your own time- but if they are not comfortable with a drop off- we will arrange a pickup for a time TBD.

  • Our events are different than the typical classroom like pottery classes and we use a professional grade glazes that react when layered. To help guarantee a nice result for everyone, we put a limit on the glazes uses together. If you have a certain idea- we will work with you to make it happen as close as possible!
